Second project meeting in Cologne

On 19 and 20 August, all VertiKKA partners met for the second time in consortium. Besides the presentation of results and the opportunity for networking for future cooperation, a special highlight was the selection of the Veedel (district) for VertiKKA’s installation. The district of Ehrenfeld has outperformed all competitors in all selection criteria and will serve as a study area in the future. The project partners went on a short guided tour of the Veedel to see its suitability for themselves.

Much will happen prior to the next project meeting:

  • selection of the façade module,
  • investigations relating to the choice of plants, their suitability for irrigation with grey water and their sensitivity to frost,
  • initial investigations on grey water treatment via different substrates,
  • further development of photovoltaic modules for VertiKKA’s specific requirements, and
  • further development of the simulator for the calculation of material flows and wind circulation.

The meeting was a complete success and promoted understanding amongst the project partners - not only in a technical sense.
