Third project meeting in Berlin

|   Projektnews

In late January, the entire consortium met to advance the further development of VertiKKA for the third time. Subsequent to an exchange of information on initial research results, the current state of affairs and planning of next steps, the group visited the laboratory of the Photovoltaic Institute (PI) in Berlin. Here, all project members were given the opportunity to view practical development work on the curtain-type photovoltaic façade and to marvel at the first motorised superstructures and test stations.

During this meeting, the first solid progress in the development of VertiKKA became visible. The experimental set-up for wastewater management is completed; whilst the ones for greening are planned and will be set up after the delivery of the modules and approval of the site. At the beginning of spring tests on the greening modules will begin. A first simulation model has been created and must now be supplied with data. The legal framework has been analysed and a meeting with the building authorities in Cologne is being planned. The sociological research group accompanying the project presented the questionnaires, which will be sent out in March.

Rounding off a busy day, the group visited the ufa fabrik in the evening. During a guided tour of the site, the group viewed the innovative experiments and superstructures for a self-turning, agro-photovoltaic system on the roof, the man-made wetland and the creative roof greening. These projects at ufa-fabrik inspired further exchange and additional ideas for VertiKKA’s development.

The two days of planning re-energised the group and provided new ideas and plans.

We are looking forward to the next meeting, where a presentation of the first test results is scheduled.
